Message from ACPGBI's President
Jared Torkington
The Annual Meeting in Manchester in 2023 under the Presidency of Charles Maxwell- Armstrong was a tremendous success. The appetite amongst the coloproctology community for education, information and entertainment was palpable. A huge thank you to Charles and Honorary Secretary Graham Branagan, Adele Sutton, Nicole Taub and the Integrity team for all their hard work.
Next year, we take the ACPGBI meeting to Wales for the first time. The new ICC offers the opportunity of a fabulous and a slightly different meeting building on the 2023 event. Book your study leave and accommodation early!! (30 June to 3 July 2024)
None of you will need me to remind you of the challenges facing the NHS, surgery and coloproctology. Workforce problems, industrial action and huge backlogs remain the backdrop to the pandemic recovery. I am convinced that the ACPGBI plays a pivotal role in maintaining morale, collegiality and in ensuring that we encourage trainees across the disciplines to chose our specialty which still offers a huge breadth of opportunity and interest.
This year will complete our bounce back following the pandemic to be bigger and better than ever before. We will continue to provide educational opportunities for professionals and patients, continue to influence national policy, promote research and communicate information and advice to our members. I ask you as members of ACPGBI to encourage colleagues to join as together we are stronger in our influence and let your chapter representatives and executive members know what we could be doing better to be more inclusive and relevant to all involved in the care of patients with bowel disease across the UK and Ireland.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible over the coming 12 months - please don't be afraid to get in touch.
EURO PEDIATRIC SURGERY 2024 cordially invite you to attend the "16th World Congress on Pediatrics, Neonatology, and Pediatric Surgery" taking place on May 28-29, 2024 in Paris, France. This annual flagship conference, themed "Innovations in Pediatric Surgical Techniques: Advancing Care for Children" offers a valuable opportunity for professionals, industrialists, and students in the fields of Pediatric Neurology, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, and related disciplines to gather and exchange knowledge, ideas, and research findings.

We encourage participants from around the world to join us in this auspicious occasion, contributing their research experiences and engaging in meaningful conversations. Your presence and active participation will undoubtedly enrich the congress, ultimately benefiting the advancement of pediatric healthcare.

Dear colleagues,
It is with great excitement that the International Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association (IHPBA) and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association of Southern Africa (HPBASA) invite you to join us in Cape Town in 2024 for the 16th IHPBA World Congress, the first on the African continent.
The city of Cape Town, situated at the foot of Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature is one of the world’s highest ranked congress cities with top class congress facilities.
Work on the scientific program is underway and we envisage an interesting congress with, apart from topical updates, symposia and state of the art presentations, will also focus on HPB conditions and challenges faced by low-and middle-income countries.
We look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town.
Prof Eduard Jonas
